(June 20, 2023): EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 has learned the El Paso Zoo's Toucan, known as Tookie, has been taken, and the city is suing for its return. The city filed a lawsuit against Joe Krathwohl, also known as, "The Birdman," in January of 2021.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 is partnering with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, to highlight the organization's Heart Gallery initiative. The Heart Gallery was recently launched here in El Paso, and is the first of 11 statewide programs meant to improve the foster care system in the state, and increase adoptions. It uses professional portraits taken of the children, to help find their forever homes.

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KVIA) -- Las Cruces police say they are still gathering information after a woman was killed over the weekend in a crash at Young Park. Police say she was riding in a stolen vehicle with three teenagers. Police say it all started Saturday morning, when the owner of the Hyundai Tucson contacted police to report it stolen. Police say at three separate times during the day, LCPD officers spotted the stolen Hyundai and attempted traffic stops on the SUV.

According to the Sunland Park Fire Department, 10%-12% of calls involve undocumented immigrants, whether it's rescues from the border wall or the desert. "I guess what we see here in the New Mexico's Sunland Park area are people who do not want to get caught. They are not giving themselves up to authorities. They are hiding.
