A man accused in a 2020 stabbing spree stowed away two knives before he returned to the scene. A Kamloops jury was shown video footage Thursday of the accused, Michael Wayne Palmer, as he was taken from the police station to McArthur Island Park. He hid the knives near the riverbank and led police there on a cloudy March day in 2020. Homicide investigator Cpl. Dave Marshall took Palmer to the park in a police vehicle with Palmer.

Kamloops Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson filed the three most recent council code of conduct complaints, and all three have been dismissed. He said he was recently contacted by the investigator contracted for the job, who told him all three complaints would be tossed. "I just got this and I'm not supposed to say nothing about it, but I'm saying lots about it," the mayor said. Hamer-Jackson filed three complaints against different councillors in April.

A Kamloops man accused of stabbing four people in 2020 told police when he was being arrested that he was trying to protect his fiancé. That's according to audio evidence presented to a Kamloops jury in which Michael Wayne Palmer is heard candidly claiming to police he was trying to save his fiancé or himself that night and about his frustrations with crime at his apartment. Crown prosecutor Laura Drake, during her opening statement to the jury, described it as a strange, rambling account.
