    A health food store in downtown Kamloops is hoping to raise funds in support of mental health — and the goal is to surpass last year's fundraising total. In a news release, Nutters Everyday Naturals said it will once again be launching its May mental health month fundraising campaign to raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association. The campaign was first held last year, and raised a total of $22,718 across its 25 stores from B.C. to Manitoba.

    An injured biker stranded in challenging terrain has been rescued by Central Okanagan Search and Rescue. In a social media post, COSAR said it was tasked to assist BC Emergency Health Services in extracting an injured mountain biker from the Myra Bailout Trail around 12 p.m.“Due to the steep terrain and uncertainty around the subject’s injuries, we placed Air Rescue One on standby,” COSAR said.

    The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has taken over an investigation into a body found in a vehicle fire that forced a lengthy closure of Highway 97C on Tuesday. In a news release, Mounties said emergency services responded to a single vehicle fire along Highway 97C near Merritt on Tuesday. After the fire was extinguished, a body was discovered in the vehicle.
