At 89 years old, the longtime volunteer has dedicated more than 12,000 hours of service, and she has no plans of slowing down. Leemans began volunteering with the Trinity Cancer Center after retiring from her work in hospice care. Initially, her tasks were simple -- making coffee and running errands -- but as time rolled on, her role changed.

    DAVENPORT, Iowa — One person is dead after a vehicle crashed into a Davenport building early Friday morning. Emergency responders were dispatched to a crash near the intersection of Harrison and W Pleasant Streets just after 2 a.m. for a vehicle that had crashed into a building near St. Ambrose University. A preliminary report from Davenport police states that a vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction on Harrison Street before leaving the roadway and striking the building.

    STERLING, Ill. — A body was recovered from a rural Sterling home following a Sunday fire, officials said. Around 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, Whiteside County Sheriff John F. Booker said a body was recovered from a residence in the 5000 block of Mill Street. Fire officials responded to the home around 24 hours earlier for a fire. When responders arrived at the scene around 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 19, flames and smoke could be seen coming out of the two-story home.

    GENESEO, Ill. — Police officers in Geneseo are investigating three individuals who placed an ATM skimmer at Farmers National Bank branch off Route 6 on Sunday, Jan. 19. Police were alerted on Sunday and immediately began searching through security camera footage from the bank. Officials later identified a vehicle that was seen at the bank, and using their FLOCK license plate recognition system, located the car abandoned in a parking lot on Bester Drive.

    DAVENPORT, Iowa — Three people suffered minor injuries while escaping a Davenport structure fire through a second-floor window on Tuesday, Oct. 22. According to a Davenport Fire Department press release, officials responded to a house fire in the 1900 block of Sturdevant Street around 5:12 a.m.  When first responders arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building and began an aggressive attack to put out the fire.
