The menu includes gyros, souvlaki, falafel, and moussaka, as well as salads, appetizers, and specialty fries. For dessert, there’s frozen yogurt and baked goods. This Thursday, there will be an opening celebration with giveaways of free gyros and merchandise to the first 50 customers.

By Lisa KavaThe famed annual Tulip Festival at the West Side Community Garden (WSCG) is officially beginning on April 12th. The garden is located between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues, with entrances on West 89th and 90th Streets. It is open to the public every day from dawn till dusk. For just a few weeks, from mid-April until the first week of May, visitors to the garden can see over 100 different varieties of tulips, Judy Robinson, president of WSCG’s board of directors, told West Side Rag.

The Kossar’s brand dates back to 1936 on the Lower East Side, and it still uses the authentic ingredients passed down from recipes from 17th-century Eastern Europe, according to the company’s website. The menu includes hand-rolled bagels, bialys, pastries, breakfast wraps, omelets, challah French toast, breakfast catering platters, and more.

It is owned by Jerome Mathieu and Massire Sissoko, two friends who met while living in France years ago. This is their first venture together. Sissoko has been in the restaurant business for 30 years, initially as a manager of restaurants in Paris, before coming to New York City.

If the name sounds familiar, it might be because Dan Cohen, the proprietor, also runs Super Nice Coffee and Bakery, a doughnut shop around the corner that he opened in 2022.
