I often tell them that is a hard question to answer, because I love home-cooked Mexican food, an art my mom passed onto me.

One of my greatest regrets in my life is growing up in a Latino household and not being able to speak Spanish, something now, in my 60s, I am going to change. I am taking Spanish classes two nights a week. If you ask me to translate, “what is in the classroom?” or “what is the weather outside?” I can tell you in Spanish. It may not be much, but it’s a starting point and to me, more personal than fumbling around with my phone’s translation app.

When I was a little girl, my mom would cook chorizo and eggs for breakfast, with fried potatoes, beans and tortillas. The aroma was a wonderful wake-up call. That amazing smell would make its way outside, too. One day a friend walked by our house as my mom was cooking and said, “Oh my, that reminds me so much of my mom who passed away many years ago.”That aroma is unforgettable.

While businesses don’t often use the term “big data” anymore, the concept has not disappeared. The analysis of large amounts of data to mine a variety of insights and actions still provides the strongest guideposts when building a strategic direction. Many companies still struggle with this, whether it’s because of lack of resources or time, or perhaps because the data sources themselves include inaccuracies or incongruences, or are unreliable.
