Courtney Muchugu, 31, of Worcester, Massachusetts, pleaded not guilty in Chittenden County criminal court in Burlington to felony counts of second-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault. If convicted, Muchugu faces a maximum sentence of life in prison on the attempted murder charge.

Lincoln Street | Park & Ride: Starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, work will begin on the sewer bypass for the Stowe Street Bridge 36 project. A sewer line on the bridge will be removed in preparation for the bridge replacement work that begins next week. Traffic on Lincoln Street will be slowed with two lanes open, but narrowed, to allow for the work. Drivers on Lincoln Street can expect the travel lanes to be shifted to accommodate this activity.

A stabbing assault in Waterbury on Monday resulted in one Massachusetts woman being seriously injured and another being jailed without bail awaiting a court appearance today to face charges including attempted second-degree murder, according to Vermont State Police. The incident took place on Monday just before 11:30 a.m. when police responded to the Best Western Plus hotel on Blush Hill Road, Trooper Mae Murdock reported in a press release Monday night.
