She has two elementary school students who are just beginning their educational journey. Her children have experienced the success of early literacy instruction. They are just craving the latest stylish treat from a new smoothie bowl shop on Harbor Island. Boujee Bowls marked its official grand opening Friday, but it has slowly been building a fan base in northern Beaufort County over the last three weeks out of its new storefront at 2137 Sea Island Parkway. The location was formerly Beach Bums Barbecue.

April 19, 2024 at 10:45 AMThe Beaufort County Democratic Party is fielding a slate of female candidates, many of whom are new to politics, in an effort to loosen the grip of longtime Republican incumbents in the South Carolina House and Senate. Putting so many woman on the Democratic ticket was not an intentional choice, said Kathleen Hughes, chairwoman of the Beaufort County Democratic Party. “It just happened organically that women are fired up and have chosen to step up and run,” she explained.

Four Beaufort County food businesses were cited with “B” grades in March health inspections by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control:Island Bagel, 17 Sherrington Drive in Bluffton, scored a 91% (B) on March 14 in a followup inspection. This percentage normally would merit an A grade, but inspectors downgraded it because of the failure to correct issues cited in a report on March 4.
