Born and raised in Montclair, Josephine (Lombardy) Ruggiero used to be a singer. At 94, Ruggiero proved she still has the pipes when she brought family and friends to tears after singing at her granddaughter’s wedding on Saturday, June 7. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, said Ruth Bollo, Ruggiero’s daughter and co-owner of Park Street Auto in Montclair.

The tagline for Woosmash is “Born in fine dining. Perfected for real life.” It hints at the backstory of this newest entry into local smashed burger scene that started back in 2009. Woosmash opened in Verona in early May. If you were a fan of Bloom, you’ll recognize some of the former elegant Koren-French fusion restaurant space reimagined as a Korean-inspired smashed-burger joint. Woosmash is named after Woosung “Woo” Cho, who was also the owner and chef behind Bloom.

Phil Murphy failed to reach a deal with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen. The strike could disrupt the daily commutes of approximately 350,000 individuals across New Jersey and New York.
