After more than 55 years as a preschool, Montclair’s Pilsbury School will close in June. “The expansion of the State-Funded Universal Preschool and Pre-K programs in the Montclair Public School System has caused unprecedented challenges for us,” said Cindy Pilsbury Benson, director of the Pilsbury School, in a letter to parents. In her letter, Pilsbury Benson said economic uncertainty and financial constraints forced the decision to close.

A group of cyclists nearly 300 strong took to the streets Sunday for a seven-mile ride. Starting in Upper Montclair, families rode all the way to Nishuane Park — and back. The goal? To send a message to elected leaders about the need to make Montclair streets safer. The Montclair township council will hold a public hearing Tuesday on legislation establishing a Complete Streets policy.

Newark Mayor and gubernatorial candidate Ras Baraka targeted Democratic front runner Congresswoman Mike Sherrill, in her hometown of Montclair, calling Sherrill “tone deaf” for her remarks about addressing the wealth gap in New Jersey. “Our congresswoman says that the wealth gap can be fixed by making sure that third graders know how to read,” Baraka said, citing Sherrill’s remarks at a recent forum. “I think that if that was coming from a Republican, it would be considered racist,” he added.

Montclair is once again getting its closeup. This time it’s a Netflix rom-com featuring Jennifer Lopez. Filming in Montclair for “Office Romance” is taking place at this Gates Avenue home. Starring in the film with Lopez is hunky Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein. The film is directed by Ol Parker. According to a township spokesperson, this is the only location in Montclair where Hubble Productions will be filming.
