'Office Romance' with Jennifer Lopez Filming in Montclair

Montclair is once again getting its closeup. This time it’s a Netflix rom-com featuring Jennifer Lopez. Filming in Montclair for “Office Romance” is taking place at this Gates Avenue home. Starring in the film with Lopez is hunky Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein. The film is directed by Ol Parker. According to a township spokesperson, this is the only location in Montclair where Hubble Productions will be filming.
Montclair Public Schools Names New Superintendent

Montclair Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Ruth B. Turner as the next superintendent of Montclair Public Schools at a special meeting Wednesday. BOE President Monk Inyang gave a presentation describing the search process that started back in September 2024. He said the board looked for someone who was in a similar type of district, someone who valued accountability and collaboration and who could be a courageous leader.

On Saturday April 5, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Essex Chapter of Native Plant Society of New Jersey will be conducting a free “Signs of Spring” Guided Plant Walk at Essex County’s South Mountain Reservation. On this guided tour with NPSNJ naturalists, you will hike to Turtle Back Rock, through a mixed hardwood forest, looking for the first signs of nature’s floral rebirth and renewal, such as violets, spring beauties, and sedges.

There was the in-person taste test where Montclair Public Schools sought feedback back in May. Then Montclair Public Schools chose Sodexo as its food service provider. Now the district is looking for more feedback. Montclair Public Schools are hosting monthly parent meetings to discuss the school lunch program. The district invites parents and guardians to engage in open discussions about school meals at these meetings, held at various school cafeterias throughout the district.
Montclair Bulldogs Cheer Team Take Home Grand Champion Honors

The Montclair Bulldogs cheer team scored another big win Sunday when they competed at the ImpACT Cheer and Dance Competition in Lincroft, NJ. The cheer team placed first in their division (out of three teams in their division/level) and earned the Grand Champion title for their session (highest score of teams in their level ranging in ages from 6 to 14, across seven teams).

Minoru has officially opened at 608 Valley Road, bringing Japanese cuisine back to the upstairs space above the former Daikichi. For co-owner Meiji Pattamasingcha—chef and co-owner of SLA Thai (596 Valley Road)—it’s a homecoming. She began her culinary career here in 2007, working under Daikichi’s longtime owner, Aki Kaneda, and in his Upstairs restaurant before launching SLA Thai in 2016.

Housed in a building adjacent to Parkside Social, Nómada is Skopos Hospitality’s first foray into Mexican cuisine and it shares a liquor license with Parkside, which, of course, means tequila and margaritas. Montclair may need to spend more than $1 million to reopen Firehouse 3. Montclair Fire Chief Robert Duncan spoke about the importance of reopening the firehouse Tuesday. Duncan gave a presentation to the council detailing the need to renovate and reopen the historic firehouse that has been closed since July 2023. Several members of the council had questions for Duncan and requested additional data. But Mayor Renee Baskerville had just one question.
