All it took was one throw. Aubrey Williams, a second-grader at Palm Lake Elementary School, was able to dunk PTA board member Jen Brown on her first try at hitting the target at the dunk tank. Brown made a splash in the water during the school's carnival Friday, April 11. "It was really nice and fun," Williams said. The dunk tank was a fan-favorite activity at the carnival, which also had games, rock climbing and inflatables.

Hadley Johnson, a third-grader at Dillard Street Elementary School, was on a roll. She was able to successfully keep her hula-hoop going around her waste while doing several tricks including taking a step to the side, taking a step back and turning in a circle. The last challenge to clinch the win was to drop down on one knee. She was so close, but the hula-hoop fell.

Maddie Stoner, a fourth-grader at Sand Lake Elementary School, and her parents, Ashley and Matt Stoner, made their way to the petting zoo. They were excited to see goats, rabbits, a pig and more. The petting zoo was one of several activities at the Spring Carnival Friday, April 11. "We love this event," Ashley Stoner said. "We come every year."The carnival featured games, a dunk tank, a train, bounce houses, inflatable slides and a petting zoo.

The Winter Garden City Commission honored the winners of the 2025 Drop Savers Poster Contest during its meeting Thursday, April 10. Honoring the winners came after the commission read a proclamation for Florida's Water Conservation Month, which is the month of April. Donna Corbus, the sustainability and community liaison for the city, said 67 students in Winter Garden participated in this year’s contest, but no students from Division 2, which is second- and third-graders participated.

The cast of Foundation Academy’s spring musical is not in Kansas anymore. Or Florida, for that matter. Students have been transported to the fantastical world of Oz as they prepare to bring the story of “The Wizard of Oz” to life on stage. Christina Haak, fine arts director at Foundation Academy, said the musical has been in the works since last school year when a group of students gave a presentation to the theater department leadership on why “The Wizard of Oz” should be this year’s musical.
