By 2027, Sam Houston State University anticipates kicking off a new master’s program in applied biomedical sciences, which will be housed at its College of Osteopathic Medicine in Conroe, COM Dean Thomas Mohr said in a May 20 interview with Community Impact. In late 2024, the college received a $4.99 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Community Impact previously reported. Mohr said that the grant is specifically to help with the creation of new health care-adjacent programs.

Higher Grounds Coffee Co., which previously operated out of a mobile trailer, expanded into a storefront in early April, owner Jennifer Acosta confirmed. “We wanted to provide something ... so that the community can come together and gather and just have a nice place to have a cup of coffee,” Acosta said. The coffee shop offers a variety of hot and iced coffee alongside pastries such as kolaches, cinnamon rolls and muffins, Acosta said.

In three of the five Tomball and Magnolia-area ZIP codes, the median home price saw an increase year over year in May. 77375 saw the largest percentage increase of 10.27%—going from $365,000 to $402,500.Of the homes that sold in May in Tomball and Magnolia, 43.8% of them were priced between $300,000-$499,999.

Two-minute impactHome sales decreased in five of the eight ZIP codes in Conroe and Montgomery, with total home sales decreasing 10.5% year over year in May. In six of the eight Conroe and Montgomery-area ZIP codes, the median home price saw an increase year over year in May.
