I am not a fancy gal. I have been to exactly one high-end five-star "dining establishment," and the entire time I was there, it felt stuffy and uncomfortable, and I felt entirely out of place. There is nothing I enjoy more than a good hole-in-the-wall restaurant where the food is good, the prices aren't outrageous, and there's character or a character around every corner. These, in this lady's humble opinion, are 5 of the best "hole-in-the-wall" spots in Eastern Maine.

Maine is not exclusive to the housing shortage crisis. Two surprising Maine cities did make an affordable rent list. WalletHub points out in their research that rents have gone up over 50% in the last 10 years, according to the Federal Reserve’s Consumer Price Index. That mirrors how home prices have gone up in the past decade. If only our income kept pace with the growing prices. They do not. Of the 182 cities looked at for the most affordable, Maine had two make the list.
