Langlee Carnival set to return to region next month (Image: Langlee Carnival) LANGLEE Carnival is set to return this year with a new spring date. The event will be held on Saturday, May 10 at Langlee Community Centre from 12pm-3pm. The day will feature many activities including face painting, fun fair, pony rides, fun run, games along with sales tables, refreshments and a raffle/tombola.

GALASHIELS Walking Festival is set to return later this month. The event, now in its ninth year, kicks off on Thursday, April 24 with an evening stroll at Torwoodlee Tower and will run until Sunday, April 27. The programme includes shorter walks, accessible and buggy-friendly routes, longer hikes with transport provided by Borders Wheels, walks including a ‘dook’ in local water and walking rugby at Galashiels Rugby Club.

Morrisons is restructuring the business, bringing closures (Image: Ian West/PA) SUPERMARKET chain Morrisons has confirmed the date its Peebles store will close. The Old Town shop will shut its doors next Wednesday (April 16). Last month Morrisons announced a number of its Daily convenience stores would close as part of a wider restructuring of the business.

Police Scotland (Image: Police Scotland) A 58-YEAR-OLD man has died in a crash on a Borders road. Police received reports of a one vehicle incident on the B6357, near Saughtree, at around 3.25pm on Sunday, April 6. Emergency services attended the scene and the man, who was riding a KTM motorbike, was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed at the Saughtree to Bonchester Bridge junction for investigations to take place and was re-opened at around 8.45pm.

2 1/1 POLICE are appealing for information following a break-in and theft at property in Peebles. Two mountain bikes and two Rab branded jackets were taken from the property. The jackets are described as one all black and the other navy blue with an orange lined hood. The incident is believed to have taken place at around 4.30am today at a property in the Whitehaugh Park area. The suspects reportedly left through the back garden door of the property.
