(Image: Newsquest) A BRAMPTON woman who was suspected of drink driving kicked out towards a police officer as she was being removed from a police van. Lesley Thomson, 46, was charged with the drink diving offence, but the charge was dropped when her defence team secured CCTV footage which proved that she was not the driver and had switched seats with him.

Carlisle's Rickergate court (Image: Newsquest) A CARLISLE man brazenly flouted a restraining order three times in the space of a few hours by going to his former partner's home. A defence lawyer said Barry Hewitson, 45, blames his offending on alcohol and is now determined to seek help. The defendant admitted three breaches of the order and damaging a police van by urinating in it.

(Image: Newsquest) A PENSIONER from Carlisle has been remanded in custody after he admitted three allegations of downloading indecent child images. Paul Denman, 73, who formerly lived at Margaret Creighton Gardens, appeared before the city’s Rickergate court via a video link from the prison where he is being held. He entered guilty please to three offences.

Robert Hardon, 36, broke up with his partner after a 16-year relationship, including two years when they were married.

John Fitzgerald, 36, from Walton, near Brampton, was given a 30-month disqualification for driving dangerously in August of 2023 and told he will remain banned until he passes an extended driving test. He was also given a ten month jail term. His formal ban was also scheduled to remain in force until at least May of next year, the court heard.. But on February 6 police spotted him at the wheel of a black Audi A3 as he drove along Brampton Road in Carlisle.
