Tasmanian museum owner Karin Koch created the world's first animal poo painting competition because she's passionate about destigmatising faeces, but also to have fun. Ms Koch is the creator and owner of Pooseum, a primarily science museum dedicated to dung. In 2024, she invited artists to submit works made with animal poo in her inaugural competition called the Poo-tastic Tasmanian Paint Off, with a $2,000 prize on offer for the winner.

Oil paintings of Tasmania's Victoria Cross recipients are now on display at the Tasmanian Army Museum, thanks to the work of international artist and war veteran, Tyler Briley. The portraits were donated by Kerri Statton, who is the great grand daughter of Victoria Cross recipient Sergeant Percy Statton. She did extensive research to locate descendants of Tasmania's 15 Victoria Cross recipients to ensure their legacy is not forgotten.

The time-consuming process has become a passion for her after seeing the impact a wig can have on the self-esteem of people experiencing medical hair loss. Ms Walker, who has been a hairdresser for 36 years, expanded her skills to wig-making 10 years ago, when she became frustrated by the lack of options available to her clients.
