LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Overdose deaths in Laredo are at a low due to the collaboration of various agencies and nonprofits in the area. On Friday, May 30, U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar highlighted the city’s teamwork on the issue. In 2023, the city recorded its highest number of deaths at 67, which prompted collaboration among city, county and federal agencies, as well as nonprofit organizations. Together, they implemented several harm-reduction efforts to tackle this challenge.

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - American Legion Post 59 is preparing to honor fallen heroes ahead of Memorial Day and is inviting the community to participate. On Saturday, May 10, American Legion Post 59 will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery to place new American flags on the graves of veterans. For several years, the American Legion and other veterans’ organizations, along with community members, have placed thousands of flags at the cemetery.
