3-vehicle crash closes northbound lanes of Monitor-Merrimac bridge

Virginia State Police is investigating a three-vehicle crash inside the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel early Wednesday morning. A call for a crash in the northbound tube came in around 6:45 a.m., according to a release. Police said the crash involved a commercial tractor-trailer, an F-350 transport vehicle towing a flatbed trailer loaded with two SUVs and a passenger vehicle.

Woman charged with manslaughter after man’s body found on Route 17 in York County

Authorities charged a Newport News resident with manslaughter, alleging that she caused a wreck that killed a pedestrian near the Newport News-York County border. York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office deputies were called Tuesday morning after a passerby found the man’s body near the shoulder of George Washington Memorial Highway. It matched the description of a man who had been reported missing in Newport News on Saturday, deputies said.
