An Isle of Wight man was arrested Monday morning, and authorities accused him of being found in possession of close to one million images of child pornography. The sheriff’s office received a tip that 53-year-old Joseph Wayne Clifford, of Carrollton, was in possession of child sexual abuse material. Investigators executed search warrants on his home, electronic devices and his person.

NEWPORT NEWS — An inmate of the Newport News Sheriff’s Office died receiving medical treatment Wednesday, the office reports. Dale Phillip Stano, 67, died while in medical care at Riverside Regional Medical Center. The sheriff’s office said he was serving a sentence on a probation violation. Stano has five convictions listed on the Virginia State Police’s sex offender and crimes against minors registry. According to the sheriff’s office, Stano died of “natural causes” and no foul play is suspected.
