In videos posted on social media, onlookers watched the scene unfold at the Schooner Island Marina as firefighters doused a 41-foot boat, named “Luv-IT,” out of Philadelphia. According to published reports, the fire broke out around 12:45 p.m. when the boat was docked and was getting fuel.

But the recent training session quickly turned into official lifesaving duty, underscoring the need for such a boat. “We assisted three people on a boat that got caught on a sandbar,” Fire Chief Bernie Walker said in an interview with OCNJDaily.com. “So, it had its first official rescue last week.
