TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Today at Armory Park, Tucson Parks and Recreation held a community walk and health fair to honor loved ones lost to age-related diseases and provide resources to those living with them. It’s an event Zachary Owens has spent the past three months planning after his grandfather, Lyle Rolston, passed away in February. “I kind of woke up in the middle of the night one night and I was like, ‘I want to do something for him. I want to do something to honor him,’” Owens said.

MARANA, Ariz. (KGUN) — For some residents living near Linda Vista Blvd. and Twin Peaks Rd., a proposed annexation and rezoning of over 50 acres of land near their homes has left them with concerns. The proposed Linda Vista 52 Annexation would include approximately 52 acres of land and just under two acres of right-of-way and roadway, into Marana.

MARANA, Ariz. (KGUN) — The state is selling the former Marana state prison facility for $15 million to the company that previously operated it, according to the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA). A deal was signed with Management and Training Corporation on April 30 for the facility, located near Sanders and Silverbell, according to a spokesperson with ADOA. The spokesperson said the deal is expected to close within 30 days.

More than 107,000 people died from a drug overdose in 2023, and about 70 percent of those deaths are attributed to opioids, like fentanyl, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
