Washoe County's Housing and Homeless Services staff says its resources are overwhelmed with the amount of people in need of assistance. The department has reported to the board of commissioners that it's to the point where their existing resources are stretched thin, depleting, or even being cut. They say as rent continues to rise with no signs of slowing down, affordable housing is unable to catch up with the population growth in Washoe County, and the same goes for shelters.

Reno Police say they're still looking for one or more people who may have been involved in Saturday's shooting in northwest Reno that ended with one person dead, and four others hurt. Police say it happened in the area of Raggio Parkway early Saturday morning. One of the victims has since been released from the hospital. However, the conditions of the other three remain unknown. It is an ongoing investigation so they can't share much.

Protests are expected to happen all across the country against President Trump and his administration's policies this weekend. And many local law enforcement agencies are preparing for those protests here in northern Nevada. Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance says while they're committed to protecting everyone's first amendment right of free speech and public assembly, they also ask that everyone practices it safely and lawfully.
