OSHKOSH (WLUK) -- 11 pets were recently abandoned outside a local animal shelter, prompting a warning from officials. On Friday, the Oshkosh Area Humane Society took to Facebook to post about an abandonment incident that happened earlier this week. An employee came into work one morning at 7 a.m. to find a dog tied to the bench in front of the shelter, along with two adult cats and eight kittens inside of a crate. APPLETON (WLUK ) -- The popularity of girls flag football continues to grow, including right here in Northeast Wisconsin. Half a dozen high schools in our region have teamed up to launch a girls flag football league, which opened play Friday night. Participating schools include Appleton North, Appleton East, Appleton West, Xavier, Weyauwega and Amherst.

GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Children of all abilities laced up their cleats Friday for an evening of flag football fun. It stems from a partnership between the Fox River Classic Youth Football League (FRC) and the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) that aims to make football an inclusive sport. On Friday, one of FRC's four game fields at Capital Credit Union Park in Green Bay was specially reserved for members of the DSAW program to play a flag football game of their own.

TWO RIVERS (WLUK) -- Three residents of Two Rivers were arrested Wednesday on drug-related charges. An investigation led by the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit began in January, when officials identified Jesse Miller as a person involved in the distribution of methamphetamine. Police conducted a controlled purchase from Miller in Manitowoc. A few months later, in April, a separate investigation was launched into Brad Smith, who was also suspected of distributing methamphetamine.
