It was another solid day for the Adams Central boys golf team. The Patriots won their fourth-consecutive golf tournament this year while taking the Central Conference Meet Friday at Jackrabbit Run Golf Course. Adams Central medaled all five of their golfers and finished with a 303 score, 14 less than runner-up Crete. In fact, all five golfers shot under an 80 score. Matt Koehn-Fairbanks was not sure when the last time the St. Paul girls track and field team had last won a LouPlatte Conference Meet. He can now remember the most recent one as the Wildcats captured the conference title this past Friday with 117 points, just six ahead of Central City. Koehn-Fairbanks said he wasn’t certain if the Wildcats had ever won a LouPlatte Conference title prior to Friday. “I know we haven’t won one in my years of coaching,” he said. “It was a great day for the kids.

Eighteen holes weren’t enough to settle the individual title at the Grand Island Central Catholic Invite Tuesday at Indianhead Golf Course. St. Paul’s Beau Paro and Central City’s Karter Negus both came in with a 72-hole score and had to settle the title in a playoff. In the end, Paro came away with the title after finishing the 10th hole with a par, while Negus fired a bogey.

The Grand Island Senior High Unified Track Meet got going for the first time last year. The meet continued for the second straight season on Thursday at Memorial Field in Grand Island. The Islanders competed with Columbus, Kearney, North Platte and Lexington. GISH coach Andrea Hill said she’s glad to see the Islanders host the meet again and hopes it can continue to grow for the future. “Last year was the first year that we’ve done this and it went great last year,” Hill said.
