The third annual Wortley Pride festival held Saturday has tripled in size this year according to founder and president Kathy Bell, but messages of hate continue to threatened the event before it even began. “Sadly, there was still protesting going on, and there were still some, negative messages written on the grounds here. But thankful to our community members in Wortley Village who saw it after it was done, and actually came out and washed it all away,” said Bell.

The second annual Constructer Cup was held at the Tri-Car soccer fields Friday. The event raised $20,000 in 2023 for Joan’s place, and hopes to exceed that total this year. "This year, the funds will be going to the Health and Homelessness Fund for Change. Every year we're trying to do something that really supports housing in the city in a different way. This year, we felt that was a really appropriate initiative.

London Christian High School students celebrated a fundraising total in the Relay for Life campaign well beyond what they were expecting. “We raised over $20,000. Our goal is $20,000, and we went over it by $3,000 so far, which is incredible because we did not think we would be able to do that for our first time ever doing this event,” said grade 12 student Abby Wynja.

For over two decades, the Children's Safety Village was a staple of hands-on education run out of the Fanshawe Conservation Area. “Absolutely a wonderful opportunity, an amazing opportunity for that hands-on, touch and feel approach that I believe is so critical to any learning, I mean, especially for youth,” said David Hodgins, who was the Fire Chief when the village opened in 2001, and had a road named after him in the village.
