HELENA — Change is happening at 11th Ave. and N. Roberts St. in Helena, and viewer Lloyd asked what’s getting built. The property used to house the Guaranteed Muffler shop. The city issued a demolition permit for the former muffler shop building this past March. Over the last month, documents have been submitted for a new building at that location. According to what has been submitted to the city, there are plans to build an almost 9,000 square-foot, 3-story office building.

HELENA — St. Peter’s Health is gearing up for the second annual bicycle rodeo this weekend. The free event covers bicycle safety in a fun, kid-friendly way. The bike rodeo kicks of at the St. Peter’s Health Medical Group building at 2550 E. Broadway St. at 10am on Saturday. There will be races, obstacle courses, a bike check station, helmet fittings and more.

HELENA — There are about 1,500 slash piles on Mt. Helena above LeGrande Cannon Blvd., and viewer Dick wanted to know what the plans are for them. MTN found out they are part of ongoing fire mitigation work on Helena’s open lands. According to City of Helena open lands manager Brad Langsather, the piles are the result of thinning and pruning trees on a 36-acre area of Mt. Helena land.

HELENA — The City of Helena recently overhauled and updated parking regulations and rates in the city, with that came changes to some long held practices—including one viewer Jennifer Nielsen asked about, free parking for those with disabled veteran license plates. According to city officials, free parking downtown for those with disabled veteran plates ended in February.
