CANTON — The Select Board approved spending $3,828 of the town’s American Rescue Plan Act funds on turnout gear for the Fire Department during its meeting Thursday. ARPA grant funds were awarded to towns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis it caused. Board Chairman Brian Keene told selectmen that town Treasurer Patricia Patnaude emailed him Monday that she submitted an ARPA report regarding the $116,100 that the town was awarded in the past year.

DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 56 board of directors approved a three-year contract for Superintendent Pam Doyen beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2028. The board approved the contract extension Tuesday following an executive session. Doyen began working as superintendent for the district from its inception on July 1, 2017, following its withdrawal from the Rumford-based Regional School Unit 10. RSU 56 serves the towns of Dixfield, Canton, Carthage and Peru.

RUMFORD — The Regional School Unit 10 board of directors took no action Monday following an executive session to discuss a draft lease from the town of Mexico for the district’s use of the former Mexico police station on Recreation Drive for sixth grade students. ANDOVER — Town Manager Search Committee held its first informational meeting Tuesday to outline a proposed restructuring of positions and the estimated cost for a town manager and assistant town manager. About 40 residents gathered in the second-floor meeting room of the Town Hall to hear a report from the committee, which was formed to research options for hiring a town manager. Voters at the annual town meeting in June approved forming a committee of at least five members.
