    The name of a new housing development being built in Grantham has been revealed. Linden Homes is building 228 homes – with a mix of two, three, four and five bedrooms – at Rectory Farm, off Barrowby Road. It is the first phase of a wider development, known as the Grantham North West Quadrant urban extension. This first phase will also see 200 homes built by another developer, Jelson, after planning permission was granted for both.

    A man has denied being in possession of a machete in Grantham in April. Joseph Donoghue has appeared in Lincoln Magistrates’ Court, accused of being in possession of the offensive weapon, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. The 19-year-old, of Meredith Road, in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, denies the charges.

    A sparkling flock of jolly robins and contemporary Christmas trees displaying all the colours of the rainbow are new features lined up for a popular lights trail. Tickets are now on sale for Christmas at Belton, a festive lights trail through the grounds of Belton House on the edge of Grantham. Open to visitors from Friday, November 24 until Sunday, December 31, the immersive outdoor experience includes more than a million twinkling lights, colourful trees and larger-than-life illuminations.

    Driving while under the influence of cocaine and causing ABH are among the charges faced by Grantham area defendants recently. Cases brought before Lincoln Magistrates’ Court include:Lisa Sentance, 44, of Thames Road, Grantham, admits stealing cleaning products worth £92 from a Grantham Co-op on February 18. She was ordered to pay £92 in compensation with detention deemed served by reason of time already spent in custody.
