Zerbe retires from teaching after 36 years

LUSK – Tracieanne Zerbe has spent the majority of her life teaching generations of young people from Niobrara County. Zerbe spent her earlier years growing up in Colorado at her family ranch. From the time she was small, she held a passion for teaching, specifically kindergarten children. Her family eventually moved to Wyoming, where she attended Eastern Wyoming College and the University of Wyoming. Zerbe began her teaching career in 1988 after earning her teaching degree.

NIOBRARA – The Niobrara Republican party hosted a legislative townhall with Senator Cheri Steinmetz and House District #1 Representative JD Williams on May 29. Senator Steinmetz gave an overview of house bills that were reviewed by the legislature. “It is good to see everyone here,” said Steinmetz. “I am glad to discuss what is on your minds. I have a recap of the bills I sponsored.”Steinmetz gave insights concerning opposition to mandatory electronic ID devices for livestock.
Tiger Volleyball and Football camps available

LUSK – The Town of Lusk Recreation Department will be hosting Tiger Volleyball and Football camps on June 13 and 14. Tiger Volleyball Camp will be for grades third through sixth and seventh through twelve grades. The camp will be held at Niobrara County High School Gym. The Recreation Grant is covering registration fees for Niobrara County School District #1 participants. The Tiger Football Camp will be held at the Niobrara County High School football field.

Kerkes moved with her family to Wyoming shortly after she had graduated from high school in Greely, Colorado. Kerkes’ mother teaches at the Lusk Elementary/Middle School. WYVA graduates celebrate their final day

NIOBRARA COUNTY – On May 16, Wyoming Virtual Academy (WYVA) seniors traveled to Lusk from all over the state to celebrate their final day with words from keynote speaker Governor Mark Gordon. Fifty graduates along with their family and friends attended the ceremony at Niobrara County High School (NCHS). Afterwards, a free dinner was held at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds. Several of the WYVA teachers and staff traveled to Lusk to help with the graduation.

LUSK – On May 13, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon took time out of his busy schedule to visit with the faculty, parents and students of Niobrara County School District #1 (NCSD #1). This was Governor Gordon’s first visit to NCSD #1.
