MISSOULA — A 22-year-old man is accused of assaulting a young child at a daycare in Ravalli County. Marcus Henry Kushner of Florence has been charged with felony assault on a minor. Court documents state that on April 1 Kushner pinned a 2-year-old to the ground and put his hand over the child's mouth "because he was not obeying."Two workers at a Stevensville daycare told law enforcement that the incident occurred after Kuchner, whose mother owns the daycare, became "frustrated" with the child.

Treavor Alvin Wiley, 38, of Victor has been charged with felony aggravated sexual intercourse without consent, felon strangulation of a partner or family member and misdemeanor criminal mischief. Court documents state the assault happened on Jan. 28 at a home on Three Mile Road in Stevensville.

MISSOULA — The trial of a Superior man charged with killing his wife and a bartender will be moved from Mineral County to Ravalli County. Kraig Walter Benson is charged with two counts of deliberate homicide in the deaths of his wife Jenny Benson, and a bartender, Logan Gardner, inside the Four Aces Bar that happened in August 2023. Benson has pleaded not guilty to both those charges.

HAMILTON — A 70-year-old Hamilton man is facing assault with a weapon and sexual assault charges following a pair of recent incidents. Lonnie Jay Larson is accused of aiming a shotgun at a woman during an argument on Wednesday after coming home from a bar. According to court documents, the woman told law enforcement that she was “terrified” and thought Larson would “shoot her in the face.”The woman called a friend to pick her up, left the home and then called 911.

HAMILTON — A jury found a Hamilton police officer justified in the shooting death of a robbery suspect at a Hamilton gas station in April. Ravalli County Attorney Bill Fullbright tells MTN the jury of seven people said Hamilton Police Officer Anthony Hyett was justified in the fatal shooting in a coroner inquest held earlier this week. Fullbright tells us video evidence clearly showed the suspect 30-year-old Zachary Andrew Athearn charged the officer with a knife. The officer then fired his gun.
