BOX SCORESTILLWATER — With 14 games still to play in the regular season, the Cowgirls have lost more games this season than they did all of last year. Oklahoma State fell to Iowa State 5-4 in eight innings on Friday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium. It’s OSU’s fourth straight loss. OSU’s bats struggled again Friday. In the Cowgirls’ past 15 games they’ve scored less than five runs 11 times. Kenny Gajewksi challenged his offense after the Cowgirls’ loss to Oklahoma in the midweek.

Word started to get out early this week that there might be a bit of a shakeup on David Taylor’s staff, and that was confirmed Thursday morning. An NCAA qualifier for the Cowboys in 2024 is set to hit the portal. Brayden Thompson, according to multiple reports, will transfer. He started at 174 pounds as a true freshman for the Cowboys last season and finished third at the Big 12 Championships that year to secure a spot at nationals. He redshirted this past season at 184 pounds. Thompson’s move feels part of a domino effect that started when former Ohio State wrestler Rocco Welsh hit the portal and transferred to Penn State.

PHOTOSBOX SCOREOKLAHOMA CITY — The Cowgirls raced out to an early lead in front of a record crowd, but the Sooners have won four straight national titles for a reason. Oklahoma State fell to Oklahoma 11-3 in five innings on Wednesday evening at Devon Park. OSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead before OU scored 11 runs in three innings en route to its run-rule win. “Obviously not the way we drew this up,” OSU coach Kenny Gajewski said.
