DENVER — A Denver city councilman is proposing to split the city's two at-large council seats into separate races, citing concerns that the current system leads to wasted votes and voter confusion. Denver City Council is made up of 13 seats. Eleven of those seats are specific districts that represent about 65,000 people. The other two seats are elected citywide and cover the 700,000-plus Denver population.

DENVER — What does $100,000 buy you when studying how to rebrand 16th Street Mall? A giant eraser. Denver's 16th Street Mall has officially been rebranded as simply "16th Street." Mayor Mike Johnston announced the name change on Tuesday. The downtown stretch of retail, food, office and housing is still under construction until fall, but the celebration of two years’ worth of work has begun. "We will now describe this great jewel in Denver as 16th Street," Johnston said.

The group is a dark money political action committee that does not need to disclose who helped pay for the ad.

AURORA, Colo. — The only recreation center serving northeast Aurora is closing and will no longer have sweaty workouts for the second time in the building’s history. The previous tenant, a singles swingers club, closed soon after it opened in the late 1960s. Beck Recreation Center, which has served the community since 1973, will shut its doors following investigations that revealed severe water damage, roof deterioration and corrosion of structural steel members.

Would you rather... Have just completed a 3-game sweep, but are the 12-50 Colorado Rockies... Or be the 23-37 Miami Marlins swept by the Rockies?
