    A well-loved children’s theme park in Nottinghamshire has been ranked the 4th best theme park in the UK for children in 2025. According to new research from outdoor play specialists, Outdoor Toys, the Sundown Adventureland theme park in Rampton was ranked fourth among 10 other theme parks dedicated to children. The study, released ahead of the busy summer holidays, analysed everything from entry fees and the number of rides to hotel prices and TripAdvisor reviews.

The retail chain Roman, on 32 Middlegate, Newark, has had closing down signs on its windows for a few weeks, but it has now closed its doors for good. The shop was one of the last remaining ladies’ clothing shops in Newark town centre. The store sign has already been removed, and the inside has been emptied.

    An narrow alleyway in Newark turned art gallery will see a community exhibition focused on art, nature, and wellbeing hosted there this weekend. Narrowly Newark, on Wood Street, is run by artists, photographers and poets Sasha Silberman-Hanks and Callum Harrison. Over June 22 and 23, the gallery will see the launch of the duo’s next exhibition, focused on where creativity meets nature, with a strong focus on mental health.

The Spending Review 2025, which was published on June 11, set out the government’s plans to invest £29 billion in annual NHS day-to-day spending from 2023-24 to 2028-29. Following the announcement, the Advertiser asked people across town about their experiences with the NHS and their thoughts on the financial boost.

    Grantham firefighters attended a vehicle blaze on the A1 this afternoon. A call was made to the emergency services at 5.10pm today (June 19) regarding a vehicle fire on the A1 — between Newark and Grantham. Crews from both Grantham and Newark helped tackle the incident. A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: “The car was well alight, and the road was severely damaged by fire.”The emergency services left the scene at 6.15pm.
