OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha sculptor Lee Emma Running is having quite the year. Her works are completely unique, including her use of animal bones and hides as materials - often found along highways. "It sounds dark, but it's really not. Like, it feels really beautiful," she explained of her process. Running also draws inspiration from seeds. Her installation at University of Nebraska Omaha features microscopic depictions of various seed types.

(KMTV) — The Scripps Howard Fund and KMTV's If You Give a Child a Book was created with the understanding that children with access to books at home are more likely to become proficient readers - which means fewer limitations for their futures. The employee and viewer-supported campaign stopped at King Elementary in late January. Then, surprise! Author Dav Pilkey picked the school for a bonus Scholastic Book Fair.

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Knitting wasn't always a hobby or a "passion," as she describes it, but it was part of her family's survival in Bavaria in southeast Germany in the 1930s and 1940s. Emmy Christiansen's mother taught her to knit when she was young. "We had to make socks a lot," she recalls. In time, Emmy met her husband, Edgar, an American deployed to Germany. After he passed away, she returned to knitting as a way to heal from the loss.

She was born in the Caribbean, saved from a seafood market - but also too sick to be sold at a pet store. About a month after Laura Porter lost Howie, for whom her account is named, she was approached about adopting Winny.
