RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Raleigh Police Department said a traffic stop ended with the car crashing into a Raleigh home on Thursday afternoon, causing a gas leak. Police said they were attempting to stop a car with four juveniles and one adult, where an occupant was wanted for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. The car then took off. Investigators said that the car crashed in the garage of a home in the 4300 block of Futura Lane, resulting in a gas line rupture in the home.

GARNER, N.C. (WNCN) — Just as a Garner kidnapping trial was moved to federal court Tuesday evening, the Wake County Courthouse released the warrant detailing the findings of a search conducted by the Garner Police Department. Late on the night of April 28, a mother and child were taken from a man’s home on Buck Branch Road in Garner. According to the warrant, the armed kidnapping also involved a ransom, demanding that the victims pay $1 million.

HENDERSON, N.C. (WNCN) — The death of an Illinois man in Vance County last September was ruled a suicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, an autopsy report released Tuesday shows. Javion Magee, 21, of Aurora, Illinois, was found dead in Henderson on Sept. 11, 2024, near the base of a tree in a seated position, with rope wrapped around his neck and the other end attached to a tree, according to the Vance County Sheriff’s Office.

(WNCN) — A Raleigh paralegal, Katelin Rey, is facing a list of charges, including felony conspiracy, after investigators believe she tried to send drugs to several correctional institutions. Court documents say a package with synthetic marijuana was intercepted at North Carolina Central Prison on Feb. 11, 2025. This was just one of several packages Rey is suspected of sending to multiple correctional institutions across the state.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The City of Raleigh announced Thursday afternoon during a press conference that a four-year deal was signed to bring a new festival to the city. The new festival, which doesn’t have an official name yet, will be organized by the organizers of the Dreamville Festival. The festival is expected to be around springtime each year at Dorothea Dix Park.
