RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a tornado warning for southeastern Cumberland County until 9:45 p.m. Wednesday. At 9:12 p.m., NWS Raleigh said a “severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado” was spotted moving southeast at 30 miles per hour near Jerome, about 17 miles north of Elizabethtown. According to NWS Raleigh, radar indicated rotation.

Around 9:45 a.m., a member of the NC State Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop of a pickup truck on Interstate 85 southbound near mile marker 185 near Durham.
