    MISSISSIPPI (CBS) – Mississippi’s Michael Guest is the Chairman of the House Ethics Committee. The Committee investigated numerous charges against Matt Gaetz while Gaetz was a member of Congress. According to CBS, Gaetz resigned from his position in Congressman when President-elect Trump nominated him to be Attorney General. The House Ethics Committee has a report on Gaetz. Now, Chairman Guest said their job is done.

    COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Children on their way home from school are safe. But it could have been deadly. Shots were fired at a Columbus Municipal School District bus on the afternoon of November 18, on MLK Drive near Alfalfa Street. It happened just after 3:00, as bus drivers were running their after school routes. No students were injured. But a bullet hit the right tire of the bus. The driver managed to stop the bus without crashing. There were 10 children on the bus at the time.

    STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Merchants in Starkville welcomed Bulldog friends and family home November 1 with a citywide tailgate. More than 30 tents popped up around the city of Starkville with food, games and special deals for everyone visiting for this homecoming weekend at Mississippi State. From one end of Main Street to the other, shop owners, workers and volunteers visited with guests and shared what Watson said is the pride and ongoing community support for the Bulldogs.

    OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A former Tupelo Police officer pled guilty to manslaughter in the death of a 26-year-old Starkville mother. 30-year-old James Heath Kitchens pled to manslaughter, culpable negligence. Legally that means the court finds that his actions led to another person’s death. That person was Brittany Phillips. In November of 2020, she was hit by a vehicle on Riviera Road in Starkville. Phillips later died at the hospital.

    TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo police make an arrest in connection with a sexual battery case involving an underage victim. Officers took a report of sexual battery of a minor in July of this year. The investigation led them to identify 22-year-old Tryderis Edwards as a suspect. Edwards was spotted in Tupelo October 17 and was arrested. He was charged with Sexual Battery. His bond has been set at $50,000. For 24/7 news and updates, follow us on Facebook and X.
