WWAY-TV (Wilmington, NC)
WWAY became the second television station in Wilmington on October 30, 1964. Founded by a group of local businessmen under Cape Fear Telecasting, WWAY has been affiliated with ABC since its inception. Initially, the station operated from the 10th floor of the Murchison Building in downtown Wilmington, offering stunning views of the city, Brunswick County, and the Battleship North Carolina across the Cape Fear River. In late 1969, WWAY relocated to a new facility a few blocks north on Front Street, marking the beginning of redevelopment in the northern part of downtown. In 2018, WWAY made another move to its current location in Magnolia Greens, just off US 17 in Leland. WWAY provides coverage to New Hanover, Brunswick, Bladen, Columbus, and Pender Counties. The Wilmington Designated Market Area (DMA) is ranked 129th, serving over 190,000 television households.
