Yet, according to a recent Treasury committee hearing, the nation is also becoming increasingly known for something else - fraud. Charlie Nunn, chief executive of Lloyds Bank, told MPs that attempts to slow down the surge in fraud, which makes up more than 40 per cent of all crime in the UK, "aren't working" and called for banks and social media companies to intervene earlier.
