A Waldo homeowner has gone a month without a working sewer system inside her home. Audrey Thrasher has gone back and forth with city leaders over who is responsible for fixing and paying for the repairs — especially since the broken line runs underneath a city street. Lexington’s city manager texted at least three fellow city leaders with requests to notify the public on Facebook about a gas leak before a deadly home explosion on April 9. But it appears only one of those city leaders responded to her texts — after business hours — and posted a Facebook notification about the leak, according to a string of messages obtained by KMBC 9 Investigates through an open records request and an analysis of the city’s official Facebook accounts.
