Jeanny Camden, LPN, knew she wanted to be a nurse from a young age. The inspiration came to her following a bad experience when she was 11. “My appendix ruptured, and I ended up in the hospital. I was hospitalized for about six weeks,” remembers Camden, a nurse at Good Samaritan Society – Villisca in Iowa. Dealing with pain and a fever, Camden says she’ll never forget how poorly she was treated by two nurses who dismissed her pleas for help.

The administrator of Good Samaritan Society – Home Health of the Black Hills, Sarah Angelo, RN, doesn’t get out to see patients that much anymore. When she does, she’s usually jumping in to steady a challenging case. “Those are some of the patients that I love. Hours before a special surprise in the chapel loaded with confetti cannons, teammates and beloved residents, Good Samaritan Society – Water Valley administrator Amanda Kerr was trying to keep what was coming a secret. An employee of hers in Colorado, Amber Meyer, was about to be named the National Ever Forward Employee Champion. “When I found out, I hid from her for two hours,” jokes Blade Ota, Good Samaritan chef supervisor and Meyer’s boyfriend.
