Portland, OR – An injury. A post instead of a goal. A counter attack. A red card. A fantastic first half for Colorado Rapids was put through a wood chipper in Wednesday night. It was another Providence Park nightmare for the Pids at Portland Timbers. Chris Armas rolled out the same starting lineup that won 1-0 vs St. Louis on Saturday. Darren Yapi was up top with Sam Bassett on the wing. Nico Hansen was in goal with Zack Steffen still out. Chido Awaziem and Rafael Navarro both made the bench.

Editorial – What do the Colorado Rapids stand for? What are their values? Head coach Chris Armas, his staff, and the front office have come up with a Rapids Acronym that speaks to the values the club has cultivated the last year and a half. It says a lot about where this club is at and where they can go. R.A.P.I.D.S. Relentless. Appreciation. Passion. Integrity. Discipline. Service. We first learned about these in-house commandments a few weeks ago as the Apple TV broadcast mentioned them.

Commerce City – Rain, rain, go away, come again another day. Colorado Weather did its thing on Saturday night as the Rapids hosted St. Louis City. Fortunately, so did backup striker Darren Yapu. Chris Armas had some decisions to make with the lineup given injuries. Zack Steffen was out again with an oblique so Nico Hansen was in goal. Cole Bassett suffered an ankle injury so younger brother Sam Bassett made his first MLS start on the wing. Colorado stuck with the 4-2-3-1 after last weekend’s result.
