There’s a famous scene in Monty Pyton and the Holy Grail where, in the midst of the plague, a cart is shuffled around town collecting all the dead bodies. One particular family, apparently sick of an annoying grandfather, loads him onto the cart. “I’m not dead!” the grandfather exclaims, to no avail. And perhaps that’s the best way to describe this year’s Miami Hurricanes baseball team.

The Miami Hurricanes’ running backs room just went from a bit thin depth-wise to pretty well-stocked. The team, which had four scholarship backs in spring football led by Mark Fletcher and Jordan Lyle, now has added a high-quality fifth back to the room. North Dakota State RB transfer CharMar Brown, who was on of the FCS’s most dangerous players as a freshman last season, is transferring to Miami off an April 21-22 visit.

The Miami Hurricanes have landed experienced help in the second portal window at wide receiver. Cincinnati slot Tony Johnson has committed to UM over Kentucky and UCF – he visited Coral Gables April 24-25. Johnson, a redshirt senior, has 1,491 career reps under his belt after spending three years at FAU and last season with the Bearcats. The only other Miami receiver with significant reps entering the season are two other transfer, LSU’s CJ Daniels and recent BYU commit Keelan Marion.

The Miami Hurricanes needed second portal wide receiver help. And now they’ve got it. BYU’s Keelan Marion has chosen UM over Texas. Marion is a great fit for Miami not just as a playmaking receiver who could play slot or outside, but also as a return man. The 6-0, 195-pounder was a second-team All-Big 12 pick as a kick returner after taking back 18 kicks for 472 yards and two TDs last season (26.2 KOR avg. led Big 12). Oh, and he also has five career rushing scores.
