Kimberley Wirsch is a service industry veteran, who currently works as a server/bartender at the Missouri Athletic Club. At her Affton home, she's also elevated her interest in gardening, including raised beds and in-ground gardens in her front yard and chickens out back. She recently shared about her planting passion. How did you get started gardening? I’ve always had gardens. Both sides of my family were farmers—I guess it’s in my blood! This year has been sort of an experiment for me.

INGREDIENTS 2 cups sugar 1 cup corn syrup 1/2 cup water 1 cup butter 2 cups banana chips 1 Tbsp. baking soda 2 tsp. salt Pinch of cinnamon INSTRUCTIONS Spray two sheets of parchment with cooking spray. Sprinkle cinnamon lightly over parchment sheets. Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in a sauce pan. Heat mixture to 280 F. Add butter. Cook to 303 F. Add banana chips. Remove from heat. Add baking soda and salt.

He spent a bit of time in Nashville working both front- and back-of-house jobs at Adele’s before coming back to St. Louis, where he worked at Parker’s Table before going on to help to open natural wine bar ‘Ssippi in 2022.

Chef Jack MacMurray III (a.k.a. Chef Jack Mac) has worked in some of the best kitchens in the St. Louis area. He currently serves as executive chef at Old Hickory Golf Club. He’s also a culinary competitor, most recently taking home the title of Bacon World Champion at the 2021 World Food Championships. He’s also an entrepreneur, with a full line of spice blends and more products coming soon. How long have you been making your spice blends? They’ve been in the bottle for 14 years.
