Four years ago, the Skaneateles Central School District began a club as students found interest in discussing and supporting mental health among their peers. The club, which became an official after-school activity a couple of years ago, revolves around Morgan’s Message, an initiative dedicated to mental health awareness among student-athletes. Morgan’s Message honors the late Morgan Rodgers, a Duke lacrosse player who died by suicide in 2019.

John Wojcik has coached high school tennis for 25 years. Wojcik coached the Liverpool girls’ team for 18 seasons. So far, he’s coached the Cicero-North Syracuse boys for seven years. In the past quarter of a century, coaching tennis, Wojcik has seen exponential growth between the two programs. That includes the Northstars, a program that is heading in the right direction following a 5-2 win over Liverpool on Wednesday. “C-NS has always had a great program,” Wojcik said.

Homer mayor Pat Clune announced at Tuesday’s board of trustees meeting that the “No Mow May” program will return to the village for a third-straight year. The program welcomes village residents to register their properties by pledging not to mow in May. During the month of May, the village’s code department will be directed to not issue citations for the properties enrolled in the program.

The Village of Homer has announced the date and details for its upcoming Amnesty Day. The village’s Amnesty Day will be on Saturday (April 26) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the compost site at North Fulton Street. Only village residents are allowed to participate in the drop-off. All residents must bring identification to the site. Residents participating in the drop-off will begin at the village department of public works’ main entrance and exit through the compost site.
