A man driving a utility task vehicle (UTV) was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and a handful of infractions. The Cortland County Sheriff’s report stated that on Tuesday (May 27), an officer conducted a traffic stop on the UTV in the village of McGraw. According to the report, Michael H. Gillette, 39, of Cortlandville, was driving while intoxicated.

A Town of Cuyler man was arrested on Wednesday (May 28) after he stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise, according to a report. The Cortland County Sheriff’s report stated that officers responded to Walmart in Cortlandville for a larceny complaint. According to the report, Jason W. Scutt Sr., 53, stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise. Scutt was also found to be in possession of drugs.

Crown City Rising provided updates on sidewalks in the City of Cortland’s downtown area. According to the update, crews are continuing to remove and replace defective sidewalks on both sides of Main Street. As a result of these repairs, foot traffic to various businesses might be rerouted. The update also noted that beginning next week, crews will install decorative pavers in and around the landscaped islands along Main Street.
