Brit Dicob has consistently been the three-hole hitter in Beaver River’s lineup this season. On Saturday against Bishop Ludden, Dicob was struggling at the plate. He was struck out three times in his first three at-bats, getting in his own head as he tried to put the bat on the ball. Once the matchup was tied and went into the bottom of the seventh inning, everything changed for Dicob.

The Cicero-North Syracuse and South Jefferson girls lacrosse squads are coming off 2024 campaigns in which they both made appearances in state championship games. On Saturday morning, the teams met for a matchup on the Spartans’ turf. Backed by a balanced scoring effort, the Northstars won 10-7 over South Jefferson. C-NS, the reigning Class A state champion, and South Jefferson — a Class D state finalist — have met during the regular season frequently.

Thirty Section III track and field teams convened for the annual East Syracuse Minoa invitational on a wet and cold Saturday. The Baldwinsville boys’ squad came away with a title, compiling 110 points on the day. Cicero-North Syracuse came in second (83 points) and host ESM grabbed third (62). “They did a really nice job today, especially with how the weather was today,” Baldwinsville coach Bill Spicer said.

Cazenovia coach Jack Malmsheimer said his senior catcher, Joey Awald, has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. On Friday, Awald delivered the game-winning hit to cap a four-run come-from-behind seventh inning in the Lakers’ 4-3 walk-off triumph over Solvay. “He’s been a leader for us,” Malmsheimer said. “Nobody can do it better than him.”Cazenovia starting pitcher Daniel Bliss ran into some trouble in the early innings.
