STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — In a shocking display of violence at a facility regarded as a safe haven for families, a 23-year-old man was punched, kicked and stabbed inside the South Shore YMCA in Eltingville, authorities allege. The harrowing attack on Wednesday night inside the facility at 3939 Richmond Ave. led to the arrests of Michael Frazer, 21, of Amboy Road in Huguenot, Vincent Celentano, 20, of Yetman Avenue in Tottenville, and a 17-year-old boy.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A senior woman reported a brazen robbery inside a store at a popular shopping center in New Dorp, according to sources. The robbery reportedly occurred at about 8:09 p.m. Thursday at a store at 2656 Hylan Boulevard, according to a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information. The Boulevard shopping center is located at the address supplied by police.

The cause of death for George Wendt, who played fan-favorite Norm on the hit sitcom “Cheers,” was revealed by authorities in Los Angeles, California, according to media reports. Wendt died on May 20 of cardiac arrest after suffering from a number of health issues, according to his death certificate issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health as reported by TMZ.
