The Jacksonville Bar Association is presenting the annual Rendezvous on the Rooftop happy hour 6-8 p.m. April 29 at Casa Marina’s Penthouse Lounge at 691 First St. N. in Jacksonville Beach. Proceeds from the event benefit Dreams Come True, a nonprofit dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Tickets are $25 per person until April 18, $30 per person starting April 18 and $35 per person at the door.

Jacksonville University announced April 15 it is eliminating some majors and laying off 40 faculty members in an effort to save $10 million. JU said the cuts, are part of a “reimagining its academic offerings to propel student success and academic excellence, meet market needs and create long-term financial sustainability.”“As a premier private, comprehensive university, we are in the business of preparing tomorrow’s leaders for success in their chosen fields.

Gov. Ron DeSantis reappointed members to two Northeast Florida judicial nominating commissions March 31. • Robert Harris, managing partner of Harris Guidi Rosner in Jacksonville, is reappointed to the 4th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, comprising Clay, Duval and Nassau counties. He received a bachelor’s degree and his J.D. from the University of Florida. Harris is reappointed for a term ending July 1, 2027.
