Michiganians who bought their mom potted flowers or a hanging basket for Mother's Day may want to bring them inside tonight. Forecasters say this weekend should be sunny and mild throughout the state, but the National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for 32 counties in northern Lower Michigan, as well as a frost advisory for 15 counties in the southern part of the state for Thursday night.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged after another teen was injured Wednesday in an accidental shooting on a school bus. Redford Township police said the Thurston High School student faces one count each of carrying a concealed weapon; careless, reckless or negligent use of a firearm causing injury; and illegal conduct in a weapon-free school zone. Police also are considering charges against the owner of the gun for failing to properly secure the weapon.

A Thurston High School student was shot on a school bus Wednesday afternoon, Redford Township police said. The shooting happened at about 2:45 p.m., while the bus was in front of the school at 26255 Schoolcraft, police said. The youth was transported by the Redford Township Fire Department to a nearby hospital. Police said student was in stable condition as of Monday evening. The firearm was recovered, police said, and there was no ongoing threat to the community.
