Flourish Furniture Bank, the only organization in the Kansas City area that provides complete home furnishings at no cost to families in need, has expanded its warehouse space to meet increasing demand. The furniture bank recently added 9,500 square feet of space to help serve more families experiencing housing insecurity and other challenges. Flourish, which now totals 39,000 square feet, is completely run by volunteers and has served the community for the last 15 years.

GLADSTONE, Mo. — Vernon Crow, a veteran who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, celebrated his 100th birthday with a special visit from the Don Bosco Senior Center staff and hundreds of handmade birthday cards from the community. The staff at the Don Bosco Senior Center brings Crow a hot meal every day. However, this visit was extra special as they gathered to celebrate his centennial. "He's just a remarkable person," said Anne Miller, Don Bosco Senior Center director.

GRANDVIEW, Mo — If Grandview Mayor Leonard Jones' vision becomes reality, the multiple housing projects underway will help him meet a new population goal for the city. Jones says he aims to increase the population to 30,000 residents. In multiple places around Grandview, new homes are planned. Off of the Blue Ridge Boulevard Extension, Jones says 40 Falcon Trails townhomes will be finished by the end of the year.
