Sweetgum Street stabbing leaves Beaumont resident in critical condition

A person was critically injured in a Beaumont stabbing on Monday. The stabbing was reported just before 12:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Sweetgum Lane, according to Beaumont Police spokesperson Haley Morrow. The person who was stabbed was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and the other person involved is being interviewed by detectives, Morrow said. The investigation is on-going.
Gas line strike closes Dowlen Road in Beaumont, road reopened

Dowlen Road was closed for about five hours Thursday after a gas line was hit. The gas leak was reported just before 11:20 a.m. on Thursday after a contractor working in the area of the intersection of Dowlen Road and Crow Road hit a line. Dowlen road was closed so the line could be fixed and around 4 p.m., both sides of Dowlen had reopened, a news release from the city of Beaumont said.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the family of two men killed and severely injured in a Tuesday scaffolding incident at Port Arthur LNG. Felix Jose Lopez, 42, of Pearland; Reginald Magee, 41, and Felipe Mendez, 25, both from Houston were killed around 2 a.m. on Tuesday after the scaffolding they were on collapsed, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Capt.
