SHREWSBURY, Mass.-- A new Pride Month event is debuting in the town of Shrewsbury. “We’re hoping the first weekend in June will become a signature event for us,” organizer Rev. Holly MillerShank of the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury said. On Saturday, the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury is hosting the first annual Shrewsbury Pride 5K.

It’s nesting season and staff at the Turtle Rescue League in Southbridge are fielding non-stop phone calls from worried bystanders. “[People are calling and saying] there’s a turtle in my backyard. Hey, there’s a turtle crossing the road. There’s a turtle on the highway. There’s a turtle that looks like it has its backend stuck in the ground,” facilities director Natasha Nowick said.

It’s amazing,” Fr. Milad Selim of St. George Orthodox Cathedral said. Inside the kitchen at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, a lot of love is going into what will be served at the three-day event.
